Me - pattycakeWhen WindDancer was a little girl, she found a bed of pure white clay sandwiched between layers of yellow, blue-gray, and bright red Georgia clay. Many years later her pinched pots reflect the first clay bodies she ever encountered.

WindDancer discovered ceramics when she visited the Dancing Fire Wood Kiln at Solano Community College in Fairfield, CA, as part of an assignment in a writing class. She was intrigued when she discovered that wood fire imitates the way the earth creates rocks. The heat and pressure from the fire slowly transform the clay into stoneware; and the ash, which is silica, creates the glazes and textures that make the work so stunning.

WindDancer realized that wood-firing all of her work is impractical, so she has spent the past few years searching for a way to make pots that satisfy her love for geology.

WindDancer’s response to the world is to make vessels not unlike the ones made and used by our earliest ancestors. WindDancer is a student of simplicity, line, and form; the form grows and changes as her hands follow the clay.

WindDancer resides in Fairfield, CA with her parrot, Pogo, and continues to study ceramics at Solano Community College. She has a Bachelor’s of Science in Human Relations and Organizational Behavior from the University of San Francisco.
